Q

Is Frozen Embryo Transfer is better than Fresh Embryo Transfer?

Kelly30sFemale
Hi, I'm 35 years old. I'm having IVF treatment and I will be having egg collection next week.
My doctor suggested me with Frozen Embryo Transfer for my treatment but when I search, Fresh Embryo Transfer has high success rate than Frozen?
I would like to know what is better? I should decide based on my embryo grade?
My period is not really on time every month. It comes every 30~40days.

Thank you for reaching out with your question. It's great to hear that you're undergoing IVF treatment. The decision between Fresh Embryo Transfer and Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) is a common consideration and varies depending on individual circumstances.

While it's true that fresh embryo transfers used to be favored due to higher success rates, recent advancements in freezing techniques have improved the success rates of frozen embryo transfers. The main advantage of FET is that it allows for better timing and synchronization with your body's natural cycle, potentially leading to a more receptive uterine environment.

The choice between FET and fresh transfer can be influenced by factors such as your age, the quality of embryos, and any underlying medical conditions. Your doctor's recommendation is based on their assessment of what would provide the best chances of success in your specific case.

Regarding your irregular periods, the varying cycle lengths might make timing a fresh transfer more challenging, which is why FET could be a suitable option. However, discussing your cycle irregularities with your doctor is important to ensure that the most appropriate approach is taken.

In conclusion, the decision between FET and fresh transfer should be based on a combination of factors, including your age, embryo quality, and any underlying conditions. Your doctor's expertise will be pivotal in guiding you toward the best option for your situation.

Wishing you all the best for your upcoming egg collection and the rest of your IVF journey. If you have any further queries, please don't hesitate to ask.
